Travel tips to be aware of during busy Oct. 20-22 Formula One weekend.
AUSTIN, TEXAS – Formula One (F1) United States Grand Prix, arrives in Austin, Texas the weekend of Oct. 20 – 22, bringing more flights and more passengers to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. To help passengers fly smoothly through F1, the airport is preparing with extra customer service representatives and special music performances to welcome fans and to provide an Austin style send off after the race.
All passengers are advised to be in the Austin airport terminals two hours before departure time. Busiest days are expected on Sunday evening, Oct. 22 and Monday, Oct. 23, when airport traffic increases with post-race departing passengers.
In addition to new air service, charter flights – arrivals from F1 Japanese Grand Prix and departures from Austin to the next race, F1 Grand Premio De Mexico in Mexico City – were added.
Haven’t booked the F1 race after Austin yet? AeroMexico, partnering and code-sharing with Delta Air Lines, offers year-round daily service to Mexico City with a recently introduced larger jet, the Embraer EMB-190, with Premium Class seats. Visit www.aeromexico.com or call 1-800-237-6639.
Special post-race live music performances start Sunday night, 5:30 p.m., Oct. 22, with a performance from Candace Bellamy on the airport’s main stage. Also on Sunday, James Bullard plays a solo show at the airport’s Saxon Pub at 5:30 p.m.; Monday, Oct. 23, features six shows from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. See who is playing at the airport: http://www.austintexas.gov/department/music-air-0 .
